Overview

What is Conway’s Game of Life you ask? It is an example of a cellular automaton. It as a 2D grid (“universe”) where each cell either has a living or dead agent. These agents live or die based on three simple rules:

  1. Any live cell with two or three live neighbours survives.
  2. Any dead cell with three live neighbours becomes a live cell.
  3. All other live cells die in the next generation. Similarly, all other dead cells stay dead.

The interesting thing is that depending on initial conditions, some very interesting and complex behiavor can emerge just by following these three simple rules. Two examples are the glider gun or this cool spaceship

A more in-depth explanation can be found on Wikipedia.

Demo

For now the result is pretty uninteresting since the only option is to start with a random initialization. Later on I plan to add a user friendly way to specify a starting condition as well as define some preset conditions.
